What NR-501NP Week 5 asks for
Borrowed theory has a particular failure mode and the stage is built around preventing it. A framework carries assumptions from the discipline that produced it. A model of health behavior developed by asking why people did or did not attend screening assumes a decision moment, a person with information, and a choice. Move it into a clinic where the barrier is a bus route and a shift pattern, and the model still runs, but it now explains the wrong thing unless you say what you changed.
So the analysis asks for provenance. Where did the framework come from, what problem was it built to solve, what population supplied its evidence, and what does it take for granted. Then the adjustment: which concept has to be reinterpreted, which one carries over unchanged, and what nursing adds that the original framework had no reason to include, usually continuity, access to the person over time, and a scope of practice that can act rather than only recommend.

Evidence craft for interdisciplinary sources
Read at least one source from the home discipline. Nursing literature describing a borrowed framework has already adapted it, sometimes silently. Going to one original or near-original source is what lets you write the provenance section accurately, and a grader familiar with the framework will notice which kind of source you used.
Report the validation population every time you make a scope claim. Nine words does it: developed and tested with 340 adults in a workplace program. That phrase turns a claim about generality into a statement a reader can check, and it makes your adjustment section obviously necessary rather than merely diligent.
Watch for terms that mean different things across fields. Adherence, compliance, motivation, self-efficacy and readiness all carry field-specific baggage. Define the term as your framework defines it, at the point you first use it, and keep that meaning for the rest of the paper rather than sliding into the clinical sense halfway through.
Keep causal language proportional to the design behind it. Much of the evidence supporting behavioural frameworks is cross-sectional or correlational. Was associated with and predicted are the honest verbs. Reserve caused and produced for trials, and say the design in the sentence so the reader can weigh the claim without checking the reference list.
Five mistakes that cost points in this week's territory
- Provenance skipped. A borrowed framework applied with no account of where it came from is the exact move the stage exists to correct, and it is visible on the first page.
- Assumptions left implicit. If the paper never says what the framework takes for granted, the adjustment section has nothing to adjust and turns into description.
- Every concept declared to fit. A framework that transfers perfectly into nursing without a single reinterpretation has not been examined, and a reader can tell.
- Nursing added as a label. Saying the framework is applied from a nursing perspective, with nothing following about continuity, access or scope, is a sentence that carries no weight.
- The comparison paragraph missing. Without it the paper never answers why borrow at all, which is the question a theory course is asking underneath the assignment.
