After the numbers are on the page, the capstone has to say what they mean and what they cannot mean. NR-643 Week 5 in our arc is interpretation and limitations: connecting findings back to the literature and the framework, ruling rival explanations in or out, and stating the boundaries of the claim with enough precision that a reader trusts the parts you do assert. What NR-643 Week 5 asks for
Override rates on the smart pumps climbed for three weeks after a drug library update and then settled slightly above where they started. There are at least four honest explanations. The new limits are tighter and the overrides are appropriate. The limits are wrong for a population the library did not anticipate. Staff learned that overriding is faster than finding the right entry. Or the pumps carrying the old library during the transition window produced a measurement artifact. A weak paper picks one. A strong one names all four and says what evidence would separate them, then commits to the reading its own data best supports.
Interpretation has a structure. It opens by stating the principal finding in one sentence. It compares that finding to what the literature predicted and explains agreement or divergence. It uses the framework chosen earlier to explain the mechanism. It considers rival explanations seriously. It says what the finding means for practice at a scale the evidence supports. And it does all of this without introducing any number that did not appear in the results.
Limitations is the section students most often write as a formality and graders most often read carefully. Generic entries are worth nothing. What earns the row is naming the specific weaknesses of this project, saying which direction each would push the results, and saying what a reader should therefore discount. Direction is the analytic move: a limitation that could only inflate your effect is a different problem from one that could only mask it.
Deliverables here usually include a written discussion or interpretation section with limitations, sometimes with a post about an unexpected finding. Posts do not reopen in Canvas after submission, so make sure the reading you post is one your data will still support in the final paper.

Write the principal finding as one sentence
One sentence, no hedging, no subordinate clauses. If it takes three, the finding is not yet clear to you and no amount of discussion will make it clear to a reader.

Compare it to what the literature predicted
Say whether your result agrees with the studies in your synthesis, and where it diverges, look for the explanation in the differences between settings, doses, populations or measures rather than in the quality of other authors.

Explain the mechanism through your framework
This is the payoff for choosing a model. Use its constructs to say why the result happened. A framework that does not appear in interpretation was never doing any work.

List rival explanations and address each
Concurrent projects, seasonal variation, the attention created by being measured, staffing changes, measurement artifacts. Name them, say which you can rule out with evidence and which you cannot.

Give each limitation a direction
Would it inflate or suppress the observed effect, and how much would it take to explain the result away entirely. That sentence is what separates an analytic limitations section from a list.

Match the claim to the design
A single-site project with no comparison supports feasibility, association and a recommendation to evaluate further. It does not support a causal claim, and writing one is the error that costs the most here.

Evidence craft for interpretation
Introduce no new numbers. Every figure discussed here should already appear in the results. A number that arrives for the first time in the discussion signals that the results section was incomplete and readers treat it as such.
Keep the verbs matched to the design. Was associated with, occurred alongside, coincided with. Reduced and caused belong to designs that assigned and compared, and almost no practicum project has one.
Attribute divergence to method, not to authors. When your result differs from a published one, the useful explanation is in the difference between the studies: a different population, a different intensity, a shorter follow-up, a different outcome definition. That is analysis. Suggesting the other study was simply wrong is not.
Quantify the limitation where you can. Saying that the observation period covered six weeks and that improvement effects commonly attenuate over longer windows is stronger than writing that the study period was short. Attach a number and a citation wherever one exists.
Say what would settle the question. One or two sentences naming the study or evaluation that would resolve what your project could not is a stronger close than a general call for further research, and it sets up the sustainability section that follows.
Where help stops in a practicum course
This capstone practicum carries 72 clinical hours and the boundary is absolute. Your hours, your log, your activity records, your mentor's evaluation and every signature attached to them are your own record of your own work, never drafted, reconstructed, estimated or completed with outside help. Nothing on this page is a route to producing documentation a mentor, a site or the university verifies.
The written layer is what can be supported here: how to state a principal finding cleanly, how to structure a comparison against the literature, how to use a framework to argue mechanism, how to give a limitation a direction. The interpretation itself has to be yours, because it depends on knowing what else was happening in the setting during the period. The rival explanations that matter most in a real department are usually invisible from outside it, and a discussion written without that knowledge misses exactly the alternative a faculty reader will raise.
De-identification continues to govern. Discuss findings at the level of rates and counts, never records. No patient names, record numbers or dates of service, no staff names, and no example specific enough that a colleague could identify the person behind it. If a rival explanation involves a particular individual's absence or a particular team's workload, write it as a staffing condition rather than as a person.
Five mistakes that cost points in this week's territory
- Causal claims from an uncontrolled design. The project reduced errors is the sentence that most often costs a capstone its strongest row.
- Generic limitations. Small sample size and further research is needed appear in every weak discussion and say nothing about this project.
- A framework that never reappears. If the model chosen earlier does not explain the mechanism here, its earlier section was decoration.
- Rival explanations ignored. A concurrent project mentioned in the methods and absent from the discussion is the first thing a reader will notice.
- New data in the discussion. A number appearing for the first time here undermines the credibility of the results section retroactively.
